The Greatest Movie Ever Sold
I recently reviewed Morgan Spurlock’s new documentary The Greatest Movie Ever Sold for the good folks at Lost in the Multiplex:
This latest offering from American documentary filmmaker Morgan Spurlock, he of Super Size Me fame, is intriguing in parts and possesses a top draw gimmick but does suffer from an overall lack of coherence.
The concept behind the movie is thus: Spurlock decides to lift the lid on product placement and marketing in TV shows and films and in order to fund this project he will get companies to pay for product placement in the movie. It’s an interesting premise and one which Spurlock delivers in a funny and entertaining way. It’s certainly an area which considering its massive influence on the way films and shows are funded, has received very little coverage.
